Posts: 2023 May 24 12 12:42 PM	Tags : None I have no idea what they rated me for but my AB8 went from $127 which was the 10% I have been getting forever to $1272 which only matches exactly 70% single. My claim moved back to gathering of evidence so I would gess something or things are deffered for now but I do not know what. I would assume if all were done the claim would have shown as closed????? I am glad I am seeing some light at the end of the tunnel yet a little anxious as I don't know what % I received for what except the 10% I have always had for my skin condition. At least now I will get paid for my travel and can apply for my back travel pay and see what I have to do to get the rate changed to "with spouse". It would seem like I should have got at least 50% for PTSD as my first C&P leaned toward 70% but I don't know what the second C&P examiner wrote as they still have not sent the copy I filed for on May 2nd. Had 10% skin condition new claim PTSD, Hearing, Tinnitus, and a bunch of stomach issues due to excess acid from PTSD. I will keep you all posted and thanks for bearing with me over the last year and a half.

Posts: 1715 May 24 12 12:51 PM *Chaplain*	See JS I told you this morning you would hear BEFORE you retired... Congrats on even the 70%. That opens the door for your IU. To be honest the 10%s for other conditions will generally NOT raise your rate unless you got a bunch of them once you hit the 80% mark. Remember you are 30% good so 10% of 30 is 3 so that puts you at 73%. Then you are 27% good and another 10% gives you 2.7 which puts you at 75% and paid for 80%. NOW it become difficult at a maximum of 2% for each 10% you get...hard to raise the numbers because you will start at 75 or 76 and need 9 or 10 to hit the 85 to get 90,,, I bet I really F'd up you thinking heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..Congrats brother Ken

Posts: 2023 May 26 12 6:07 PM	Big brown envelope came today. All they did was confirm what Daman has been saying all along. I am a screwed up unit. Actuall quite pleased so far. Even though they denied my stomach problems ( I expected that as my Doc did not use the wording I asked for) they did grant me 70% for PTSD. I had two C&P's for PTSD and the second DR. said that my condition was pretty much the same this March as it was last May. 70% for PTSD alone will allow me to file for IU but they have defered my hearing and tinnitus claim pending more information. I believe they are going to send me for another hearing test. If they grant hearing the last C&P I had for hearing put me in the 40-50% rating range. With the tinnitus and my skin condition it would bring me in around 90% which should make IU easier. 70% PTSD with a severe hearing loss might get it one. I now have to fill out my dependent form. Question if there are any VSO's on the board. My grandson lives with my wife and I. We are his sole support and his parents do not live with us. We have notarized letters giving us decision making authority for medical and educational and we claim him on our taxes every year. Would the VA recognize him as a dependent? Thanks everyone for their help so far.

Posts: 455 May 26 12 6:18 PM	JS, not a VSO here, but I'd like to proffer some info regarding dependent status. You're basically going to need legal documentation stating that you have custody of the child. Court papers are best. Without that, it's unlikely that you'll be able to claim him as a dependent. Just my 2 cents worth. D It ain't the years son, it's the miles! USAF 100% TDIU P&T (extraschedular) 50% combined rating by VA math
